Forwarders shunted to dead track

In an earlier interview, state secretary Alexandros Galiatatos from the Transport Ministry said freight forwarders have a bright future ahead. At least in the rail sector, freight forwarders think this statement has a different meaning - a few survivors will emerge in better positions after most of the rest will soon be killed. Forwarders’ representatives complain that it is not the fierce competition or the European integration that troubles them, but the bad practice of state companies.

Freight forwarders? role in international shipments

Marco Polo, an opportunity missed by Romanian operators
In its White Paper - European Transport Policy for 2010: time to decide, the Commission proposed to take measures which should make the market shares of the modes of transport return, by 2010, to their 1998 levels. one measure to achieve this objective is the establishment of the Marco Polo Programme with its adoption on 22 July 2003. The Programme’s objective is to reduce road congestion and to improve the environmental performance of the freight transport system within the Community and to enhance intermodality, thereby contributing to an efficient and sustainable transport system. To achieve this objective, the Programme supports actions in the freight transport, logistics and other relevant markets.   [ continuare ]

Insurance for bad management
Romania is the first and only EU member state to enforce a directors and officers insurance (D&o). A law passed last year requires joint stock companies to buy insurance policies for CEos’ and administrators’ liability. This type of insurance is meant to protect shareholders and even employees from bad management effects. It is an expensive policy, the costs being in the range of 1,000 to 5,000 Euros. Because of the steep price, EU authorities don’t even think about enforcing an insurance of this kind. Still, Romanian companies may also skip this insurance, since the law says it is mandatory, but doesn’t specify any penalty for those who don’t contract a policy of this kind.   [ continuare ]

Showroom-ul bate targul
[ continuare ]
