The accident occurred on last year’s December 30th, just when ASTRA-UNIQA was celebrating its regaining of the first position in the local aviation insurers’ top.
The aircraft whose flight to Egypt ended during the take-off run, when it hit a vehicle stopped at a wrong place on the runway, was insured for a 10-million-dollars CASCO policy, based on a contract valid from 2007 April 1st until March 30 this year.
Fortunately for ASTRA-UNIQA its situation is not that delicate, as the policy will be charged by one of the most important aviation reinsurers - Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers (GAUM, an important reinsurance pool comprising among others National Indemnity/Berkshire Hathaway, Munich Re/Great Lakes, Tokyo Marine and Mitsui Sumitomo).
