ACTUALITY - Transport costs: 70% of a Dacia Logan?s price

RBT editia nr. 5/Martie 2007 Articol adaugata la, 15 Martie 2007 ( RBT )
Afisari: 312

Ever since Logan ”by Renault“ started to be manufactured in Romania, Mioveni factory’s priorities radically changed. A 40 fold increase of exports - from 2,000 cars in year 2000 to 80,000 last year - demanded an exponential development of transport activities in order to deliver Logans (or parts) on time to 47 markets worldwide.

The factory devours 3 million cubic meters of products a year, all of them hauled by a huge fleet of 3,000 trucks for the local market and another 11,200 vehicles for the foreign shipments. Every week, two trains carry 40 containers (each of them loaded with 20 tons of parts) to the port of Constanta. On special occasions, when parts are needed badly in foreign factories, even aircraft freighters are contracted. All in all, the Logan shaped anew the transport services for the Mioveni factory, where people found about logistics only in 1998, when Renault stepped in.
