After us, the flood

RBT editia nr. 37/Noiembrie 2009 Articol adaugata la, 03 Noiembrie 2009 ( RBT )

A dismissed government was what we really needed during harsh economic downturn, which requires urgent and efficient anti-crisis measures. For those whom make a living out of complicated political games, the consequences were the least of their worries as we dived into political instability. For transporters, this breakdown will result in putting off new and simplified regulations as well as much needed infrastructure projects.

Without legislative changes, that part of the transport sector that falls under the administrative capacity of the state is doomed to slow death by under-funding. And without infrastructure works, transport is an endless Sisyphus’ striving, logistics means losing time waiting for delayed deliveries and forwarding results in choosing alternative solutions to Romanian routes.

What is worst is that the presidential elections of November 22 and December 6 will probably not solve the governmental crisis. And, as the first months of 2010 seem to be even dimmer than the hitherto crisis meant, the adage ”After us, the flood!“ suits best what politicians thought when they toppled the government. But their irresponsibility should not be paid by thousands of bankruptcies.
