Authorities agreed last month to amend the road transport legislation in order to solve some of the demands put forward by three hauliers’ associations.

Among the short term commitments made by the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure is the introduction of a vignette valid for 90 days, the ban on special permits for transporting bulk cargoes and the permission for 40 tons vehicles (with a maximum axle load of 11,5 tons) to use the secondary TEN road network, as defined by the Accession Treaty of Romania to the EU. The officials also promised to persuade local authorities to cancel the transit tolls introduced this year in some cities and the charges for use of county road sections.
