Billions of Euros for transport infrastructure get delayed because of an audit

RBT editia nr. 32/Iunie 2009 Articol adaugata la, 01 Iunie 2009 ( RBT )
Afisari: 231

The Management Authority for the Sectorial Operational Program-Transport (SOP-T) is the last one amongst seven similar units to be audited by the European officials, blocking for a few more months billions of Euros.

The audit for the SOP-T management will take several more months, during which time the allotment of 4,6 billion Euros earmarked by the European Commission for the SOP-T will be impossible, since only the audited authorities can access the structural funds. The Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure has justified this delay with the need of a reorganization operation. ”Postponing the audit process was caused by the former Minister, Ludovic Orban, who wanted to use the funds otherwise than previously agreed with Brussels officials,“ claimed Minister Radu Berceanu.
