"CONSTANTZA HAS AN ENORMOUS POTENTIAL," con-siders Mr. Joe Borg, European Comissioner for Fish-eries and Maritime Affairs

Joe Borg, European Comissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, toured the port of Constantza on October 11th. Mr. Borg wanted to inform himself on the existing infrastructure and he accepted an invitation on a short cruise in the docks area. Aboard the "Anghel Saligny" ship, Mr. Borg was able to closely inspect port's terminals.

"I am pleased to see that Constantza has the facilities needed to operate all kinds of merchandise, containers included. I am convinced that the port has an enormous development potential. I've seen that the modernization process is in progress, with investments in the services and infrastructure sectors. Besides, I know that right now there are three projects financed with European grants or loans," said the Comissioner.

Mr. Borg remarked that there are limitations for ships sailing through the Bosphorus (ship's length is limited to 300 meters), but he didn't say that this is a reason for Constantza to be neglected. One of the strong points of Constantza in Mr. Borg's opinion is the inclusion of the Danube - Black Sea channel complex in the port area.
