Two new-brand EuroSprinter electric locomotives from Siemens (189 series, type ES64F4), with a maximum speed of 140 km/h, will complete the rolling stock park of Cargo Trans Vagon rail operator early this month.

With these new traction units, Cargo Trans Vagon becomes the first private rail operator in Romania that can operate with its own rolling stock in Austria and Germany.

Compared to locomotives currently used in Romania, the two Siemens units have higher power (6.400 kW) and lower energy consumption. Already used on other rail networks in the European Union, the locomotives were purchased under a contract signed in July 2008, when the Romanian rail businesses were not affected by the crisis.
