Cargo vs. CMR

RBT editia nr. 20/Iunie 2008 Articol adaugata la, 03 Iunie 2008 ( RBT )
Afisari: 395

Although addressed to apparently different users, Cargo and CMR insurance policies are strongly relied when it comes to covering the risks for a transportation process.

The CMR policy aims at the transporter’s responsibility for the haulage as carrier, while the optional Cargo policy insures the haulage integrity during the transportation process.

There are some differences between the two: in terms of the insured’s identity, in case of the Cargo policy, he is the owner of the merchandise, while for the CMR policy, the insured is the transporter.

Secondly, the Cargo policy insures the haulage’s value, while the CMR policy insures the transporter’s liability as carrier for the possible damages.

Thirdly, the Cargo policy depends on the effective value of the haulage, while the CMR one depends on the confines liability asked by the insured.
