„The directives’ effective and rapid appliance plays an essential role not only in good market functioning, but also in the traffic safety. On such a competitive market, as that of road transport, we cannot comply with some implementation variables from the Member States“, stated Jacques Barrot, the European Commissioner in charge of Transport.
The warning from Brussels brought about the authorities’ mobilization to effectively apply some rules transposed in the national legislation in August, which remained inoperative due to the absence of a minister’s order. The Ministry of Transports announced it will issue the needed order by the end of the last month. Further more, the Romanian authorities hurried in ensuring that there will be no further steps in the infringement procedure started by the Comission, as the regulations will not only be published, but also promptly applied.
