The increasing pressure on road infrastructure coming from construction works determined the Ministry of Transports to consider protection measures, the first priority being compulsory weighing for bulk transports.

”As a rule, the maximum axle loads are exceeded when hauling ballast products, and less often by vehicles carrying general goods or transporting freight abroad. This is why new regulations were badly needed, and a solution was found by forcing ballast quarries to acquire weighing installations“, explains Sorin Supuran, general director of the Romanian Road Authority (ARR for short).

Besides wieghing the vehicles, there will be new obligations for transporters: sealing and covering the trailers in order to avoid spills of any kind of bulk materials.
