The evolution of the air transport business, and its direct consequences on airports - as landing points for aircrafts, as business opportunity for the investors, as a relaxation and shopping area for the passengers -, on aerial infrastructure, on the adjacent areas development and generally, on the ecosystem were the issues for the debate on ”Romanian Airports Forum“ event scheduled last month.
During several workshops the participants emphasized the importance of aviation in the combined transports, in order to ensure a rapid passenger and freight mobility.
Not surprisingly, a key subject was the need for additional infrastructure. The main conclusions reached by the participants were firstly the increasing passenger traffic, which not only leads to the necessity of building new airports in Brăila and Braşov, but also of expanding Bucharest's two airports and of those in Timişoara and Constantza using funds from the central budget, while local authorities' efforts are focused on the modernization of 15 regional airports.
