EC ENCOURAGES MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT IN POLAND

RBT editia nr. 26/Decembrie 2008 Articol adaugata la, 03 Decembrie 2008 ( RBT )
Afisari: 301

The European Commission authorised last month a Polish aid scheme to encourage the development of multimodal transport through the construction of logistics centres and terminals.

Subsidies will be granted at regional level for the construction of multimodal infrastructure and for the purchase of equipment. The maximum aid intensity is 50% for infrastructure and 30% for the equipment in the terminals. On a 41.6 million euros financing, the scheme will be in place until 30 June 2015.

This is not the first subsidy program, in Poland. The European Commission approved a similar Polish aid scheme, which intended to encourage the development of combined transport through the construction of logistics centres and terminals, on January 25 2006. The scheme was expected to generate growth of 7% in intermodal freight transport.
