European motorways of the seas will pass through Constanta

RBT editia nr. 33/Iulie 2009 Articol adaugata la, 01 Iulie 2009 ( RBT )

Eight years after launching the concept of motorways of the seas, the European authorities focused their attention on the Black Sea basin. The port of Constanta was visited last month by two European officials who wanted to see the facilities provided by the Maritime Ports Administration Constanta and to probe the willingness of port operators to get involved in projects tracing motorways of the seas.

Luis Valente de Oliveira, European coordinator for Motorways of the Sea, and Jose Anselmo, Main Manager of the TEN-T, met with the representatives of port administration, of the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure and of the port business community. The European officials presented the funding resources for the development of motorways of the sea routes through the Black Sea. One of the ideas outlined by the two officials was the acceptance of state aid from national authorities for faster development of motorways of the sea.
