The Government last month has completed the process of reducing of 189 taxes and fees, a measure that is supposed to reduce bureaucracy and save 75 million Euros for the taxpayers.

The Romanian Road Authority (ARR, in Romanian) was among the institutions that had to slash or eliminate taxes and fees. Following an internal analysis, out of the 29 ARR charges, 15 were merged. However, the new charges are about 17% higher compared to those set four years ago and a few percents higher compared to values set last year. For example, the transport license for the transport of goods and licensing of transport for passenger transport would cost 353 lei, instead of 300 RON as set in 2004, respectively 341 RON set last year.
