Ministry of Transports published last month a draft of the General Transport Master Plan for the period 2008-2025. The plan is prepared by Louis Berger SAS, which won an international tender procedure and signed a 2,5 million euros contract, financed under the ISPA Facility.

The General Transport Master Plan which is a strategic document for a long perspective and represents the basis of all future planning activities in the transport sector. The Master Plan will ensure a balanced distribution between the transport modes and will refer both to the development and adjustment of infrastructure capacity to the European quality standards as well as to the improvement of transport services and all other regulating and institutional aspects considered relevant for this sector. The final objective for drafting this Master Plan is to have medium and long term conceptual validity and to serve as a stable reference for the process of national infrastructure development.
