Firstly, not only that in the old political regime the logistics centers were inappropriately placed (within the towns, which led to heavy traffic congestions), but also the warehouses were also poorly equipped and badly managed. After the communist system fall, the most serious trouble proved to be the lack in logistics centers, as the imports of goods boomed unexpectedly. Right now, misplacement of the already existing logistics centers is an issue to be tackled. Most of the modern warehouses are placed on the A1 highway, and the cargo there mostly goes to the hypermarkets in the capital. Still, there is a great distance between the logistics centers and retail ones, which causes higher distribution costs. Initiatives from local authorities are welcome in case of preserving land around the cities, to have them used for building modern logistics centers.
That would result in lower distribution costs and even lower prices to all local and imported products.
