The ILDE project (Intermodal Links to the Danube Estuary), aiming at developing a short sea shipping and inland navigation link between Flanders and the Black Sea, will start its trial run next month. The short sea shipping routing connects the Port of Ghent (Flanders) with the Port of Constantza (Romania). From Constantza onwards, the transport can complete its route to its final destination via inland navigation on the Danube.
The multiple negative effects associated with road transport, such as congestion, increasing fuel prices, driving time restrictions, toll road charges, shortage of transport drivers, not to mention the issue of harmful exhaust emissions, can be avoided thanks to the alternative presented by the ILDE-Line, which will transport both bulk and general cargo.
