According to statistics for this year’s 1st half, the raw value of the insurance business in Romania reached 3, 6 billions RON, crossing the 1 billion Euros threshold. In comparison to the last year’s 1st half, the result in 2007 is 20% higher, expressed in RON, respectively 34%, in Euros.

The first ten companies on the market gathered almost 84% of the overall revenues, the leader being Allianz-Þiriac, with a 19 % market share. Still, the number one on the list has shown signs of weakness: in spite of the 25% growth of the subscribed policies, the profit stationed at 4 millions Euros, the same as in 2006.

Omniasig and BCR Asigurãri share the podium with Allianz-Þiriac. Although BCR Asigurãri occupied the third position, it proved to be the most dynamic, as it had more than the doubled subscriptions converted in Euros, on the first semester in 2006, skimmed 9,6% of the market and come up to four ranks in the top.

Growths over the market average were also registered, as follows: Unita (+100,5%), Asiban (+53,33%), BT Insurances (+52,49%) and Generali (+51,32%).
