In order to apply the European regulations in the national legislation, the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure intends to alter the legislation regarding the drivers’ rest and driving times and that concerning the tachographs, too.

While by now for having exceeded the maximum driving period a transport company would have to pay a 2.000-2.500 RON fine, now it has to pay a 10.000 to 20.000 RON fine for the same infringement.

The new regulations released by the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure divide the infringements in 3 categories, upon their gravity. The most „valuable” fine can reach 20.000 RON and it is applied for deliberately having damaged the tachograph.

For the serious infringements (the second category), the regulation says a 4.000-8.000 RON fine might be applied.
