Iosif Matula, president of the Arad County Council: Arad-Timisoara highway will favor the West region

Extremely attractive for foreign investors, Timisoara and Arad tend to become a real region, an economical pole, but also a communication node. Being put under question, and really contested by some officials, the development of the two towns will make this project real.

The work at the Arad-Timisoara section of the Nadlac-Constanta highway may start this autumn, according with Iosif Matula, president of the Arad County Council.

”Timisoara has reached the maximum of attractiveness for the investors. Therefore, the project of an economical pole Arad-Timisoara bound to the Nadlac-Constanta highway is very important. Even though there are some people who did not agree with this project, the two cities are developing one toward the other. If Arad and Timisoara create this attractiveness, they could compete with the Bucharest economical pole”, opines Gheorghe Falca, Arad’s mayor.

Amongst the priorities of developing the area’s infrastructure, it is the modernization of the sectors included in the TEN-T (Trans European Network – Transport): the 4th and 7th corridors, with highways, railways, navigation, but also the rehabilitation of the national roads, train stations, harbors and airports.

”The future of Europe is a future of regions. Arad and Timisoara have understood what an economical pole may mean. In the west region, we have more and more projects. Firstly, we want investments in the infrastructure, where we are all stuck. The Arad-Timisoara highway will favor the west region’s development”, also believes Iosif Matula.
