New container service on the Constantza-Shanghai route

RBT editia nr. 12/Octombrie 2007 Articol adaugata la, 02 Octombrie 2007 ( RBT )

The world’s sixth container line - China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL), part of the China Shipping Group, announced the inauguration of a new transport service, called the Asia-Black Sea Express (ABX), which connects Constantza to Shanghai. According to CSCL representatives, the new service aims at stimulating freight from Romania to China, especially due to the possibility that the freight may be carried straight forward on the Constantza - Kelang Port - Nansha - Shekou - Ningbo - Shanghai route, within 21 days only.

The seven ships allocated to the route ensure a weekly frequency of 4.250 TEU from China to Romania and of 600 TEU on return, respectively. The first container ship left Shanghai on September 13th and it is estimated that will arrive to Constantza on October 9th.

The direct Shanghai connection will consolidate the Romanian port’s regional hub position, considering the fact that in Constantza will be operated freight to and from Ukraine (Odessa), Russia (Novorossiysk) and Bulgaria (Varna).
