PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS FOR LOGISTICIANS

RBT editia nr. 26/Decembrie 2008 Articol adaugata la, 03 Decembrie 2008 ( RBT )
Afisari: 275

Increased buffer stocks, sending larger loads, increased density of products, developing warehouses close to customers, making an exchange between competitors in order to reduce transport needs - these are only some of the solutions resorted to by the logistics sector in order to cope with the increase in fuel costs.

According to experts, the largest share of expenditure goes for the appropriate logistics activities in the overall costs of companies’ import and distribution. Yet, it is possible to increase the efficiency of this process by covering all activities related to procurement, transport, storage and goods transshipment in logistical operations. However, logistics costs are affected by phenomena such as increased fuel prices and delays arising from international laws and increasingly complex security measures that threaten to prolong the time of delivery and to raise the cost of storage.
