On October 13th, the second European Road Safety Day was marked by a conference in Paris, gathering 600 people from 42 countries, including Antonio Tajani, European commissioner for Transport.

The event sought to promote enhancing road safety in cities through a more effective dialogue between all participants in the urban traffic, and between them and the decision makers. In addition, there were also some debates on the most important initiatives and progress made in Europe with the aim of reducing the degree of road lack of safety. ”Two thirds of all road accidents and one third of fatal accidents occur in urban areas. This is why we have decided to devote this second European Road Safety Day to road safety in our cities. The event provides an excellent opportunity to raise awareness among European citizens about this issue“, said Tajani, who has made road safety one of his priorities for action.
