RBT: Constantza Port Administration recently opened an office in Belgrad, which might suggest that there is interest to increase shipping from Serbia to the Black Sea. Is Constantza a potential gate for Serbian imports and exports?
His Excellency Dusan Crnogorcevic: According to merchandise flow analysis and waterway transport prognosis, Constantza, with its position and infrastructure is of course preferred in comparison with other ports in the region. Our Danube ports - Pancevo, Belgrad, Smederevo, Novi Sad, Prahovo, Backa Palanka and Bogojevo - also have real chances to become intermodal nodes.

RBT: What are the priorities for infrastructure works in Serbia: motorways, railroads or Danube bridges?
HE D.C.: When it comes to transportation development policy, Serbia decided to favor all three modes of transportation in the same manner. Road transportation enjoys great support, especially in strategic directions towards Hungary, Bulgaria and Macedonia. Rail sector needs investments in both infrastructure and rolling stock modernization, while waterway transportation is dependent of capitalizing current potential. Refurbishing Iron Gates locks is one of our main priorities.
