Considering the number of hours spent at the work place, the researchers at the European Association for Life and Work Conditions Improvement, reached the conclusion that Romanians are the most hard-working Europeans, in spite of them having the lowest wages in the EU.

The Romanians work 1.850 hours/year, with 100 hours more than the employed average population in the EU and with 200 hours more than the Germans. Yet, we are less efficient due to the accumulated stress and to the fact that we get to perceive work as a burden. Also, while the maximum vacation period in Europe belongs to the Swedish, with 33 days, the Romanians have a mere average 21 days of paid vacation. Moreover, the working day for a Romanian employee counts around 10 hours, the finding placing our country amongst the European states with an average work day length.
