His Excellency dr. Eldar Hasanov, Azerbaijan Ambassador in Romania announced during a visit to Constantza that Romania’s biggest port will be a key point on a new route for Caspian oil. According to the Ambassador, a memorandum signed by Azerbaijan and USA surprisingly mentions Romania as a gate for Caspian energy resources entering European Union. Azerbaijan is therefore interested in building an oil terminal in Constanza. The facility will belong to Azerbaijan and will take over some of the oil currently shipped by pipeline from Baku to Ceyhan in Turkey.
