On June 14th, the Ministry of Transports announced it wants proves of aircraft insurance policies from all airplane owners in the country. For aircraft registered in Romania, insurance policies copies are to be presented to the Civil Aeronautic Authority. In case of foreign aircraft flying to a Romanian airport, insurance policies copies must be onboard.
These new rules take over obligations included in the European Comission regulation 785/2004.
National airline Tarom insured its fleet starting May 1st the cost being 6,98 million RON (some 2,1 million Euros). Tarom's fleet is covered by Romanian insurer Astra Asigurari.
