RBT editia nr. 33/Iulie 2009 Articol adaugata la, 01 Iulie 2009 ( RBT )

For the second time this year, the Employment Outlook Survey released by Manpower indicates that employment prospects continue the steady decline. Employers in Romania are reporting their second negative Net Employment Outlook (difference between the percentage of employers planning to increase staffing levels and the percentage of employers planning to reduce staff), which stands at a disappointing -7%.

This is the weakest Outlook recorded since the beginning of the survey in Romania in March 2008, and represents a 3 percentage point quarter-over-quarter decline and considerable decrease of 33 percentage point year-over-year.

At a national level more employers (64%) are saying they will hold on to their current staff, while 14% expect to increase headcount from July to September 2009, and 21 percent predict decreasing their workforces. Employers in seven of 10 industry sectors, including transport, report negative hiring intentions for the next quarter. The employers in transport, storage and communications market expect employment to fall, with a -15% Net Employment Outlook for the third quarter.
