The Association of the Romanian Railway Industry (AIF) came into being on 28th July. AIF it is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that has the goal of increasing the notoriety of railway transportation in Romania and promoting it as the main way of transporting passengers and merchandise.

„At this time, the railway market, that embraces all the providers of railway components, rolling stock, various solutions for railway substructure and related services, figures one billion Euro, but it is expected to increase, particularly that European funds for the railway substructure are coming”, pointed the association’s members.

The founders members of The Association of the Romanian Railway are providers of services and products, Romanian and multinational commercial companies: Alstom, Club Feroviar, Eximprod Grup, ISAF, Siemens, UCM Resita and Vossloh Tehnica Feroviara. The association’s first president is Bogdan Focsa, rolling stock director at Siemens SRL.

Amongst AIF’s objectives, there are: the intensification of the dialogue between the railway industry’s representatives and their products recipients; finding practical technical and financial solutions for railway projects in Romania and abroad.

AIF is already a member of the European Association for the Railway Supply Industry (UNIFE) and by this statute it promotes the European technical standards for growing the level of safety of the railway traffic, the passenger’s comfort and the trains punctuality. UNIFE’s mission is to encourage the railway industry’s development and to promote the railway as Europe’s favourite conveyance.
