The European Commission announced, in mid-January, that it had settled an agenda for the general aviation. It is for the first time in EU’s internal aviation market history that the Commission studied this sector, quantified its value and identified the challenges it has to deal with.

”We fully understand the importance of the non-commercial aviation and we plan on working with this sector, which is an important work force, expertise and technology source for Europe“, declared Jacques Barrot, vice-president of the Comission.

There are 5 Romanian companies offering air taxi services: Tiriac Air Services, Regional Air Service Tuzla, EuroJet, Special Air Services and Cobrex. Excepting the last one, whose center is in Brasov, all the others develop their activity around Bucharest.

Their services are not that cheap, though. To give only a few examples, Regional Air Service Tuzla asks for some 380 Euro/hour (Piper charter), while Tiriac Air asks for 500-1.500 Euros/hour.
