The leasing gets in Europe

RBT editia nr. 15/Ianuarie 2008 Articol adaugata la, 11 Ianuarie 2008 ( RBT )

Romania’s accession to the European Union brought about alteration to the leasing legislation, too. On the other side, the market’s growth rhythm has suddenly slowed down in last year’s second half. Those are only one of the aspects that were widely debated at the National Conference of the Leasing Association and non-banking Financial Services (ALB, in Romanian).

”With a view to the leasing market’s structure, on financed goods, it is a fact that, although the vehicles are still leading in terms of percentage, they are on sheer diminution. On the other hand, the equipment’s leasing financing is on a permanent rise“, said Kerem Sekizyarali, the President of ALB.

Mariana Vizoli, Director at the Legislation Department on the VAT in the Ministry of Economy and Finance said that when it comes to means of transport, there is an exception from the general rules regarding VAT. Any leased corporate good will have VAT applied in the destination country, while means of transport leased by Romanian companies will be taxed locally.
