According to the annual report of the European Consumer Center (ECC) for 2008, transport is the area that raises the most issues for the European consumers. From the overall complaints made to the ECC networks, transport occupies one third of the complaints and over 80% of them are air transport’s subject.

In 2008, most of the complaints received by the ECC, over 33%, were generated by the transport services, with 10% more than in 2007, and of all claims for such services, over 80% were related to air transport. Approximately two thirds of these problems were linked to delays, cancellations of flights, while the remaining third were due to problems with either lost or stolen luggage. About this rating, Antonio Tajani, ECC-Net Vice-President, which operates transport-related complaints, did not show any surprise at the report’s findings, stressing that ”the transport sector is the one that is the most reported field at the European Consumer Center“.
