Transport and industrial activities - interdependent sectors that may drag Romania out of the crisis

RBT editia nr. 32/Iunie 2009 Articol adaugata la, 01 Iunie 2009 ( RBT )

Professor Radu Pencea writes about the way national economies around the world are showing signs of recovery or further downing in a gloomy global economical environment, arguing that Prof. Pencea notes that forecasted economic indicators and developments suggest that the peak of the crisis was overcome.

Also, there are preconditions for entering a positive track in the second half of this year. In Romania, such development implies increased industrial activities, as construction or services can not return to the high level attained before the crisis. In Romania’s case, it may be said that the industry could not keep the pace with development because of the transport infrastructure. The two sectors are interdependent for better and for worse, and their support can ensure the resumption of economic growth.

Analyzing all these peculiarities of local economy and trends in the world, one conclusion is that the industry remains the main branch of economy that can be quickly boosted.

Increasing industry production would lead to lower unemployment and the taxes collected by the state required to support other areas and may contribute essentially to raise Romania’s status of European country.
