The Ministry of Transports has announced on 13th July that the Sectorial Operational Programme Transport (SOP-T) has been approved by the Bruxelles authorities.

This document is identifying the investment priorities that need EU’s financing.

The financing predicted in SOP Transport amounts to 5,7 billion Euros, for the period 2007-2013, in 2007’s prices. Out of this sum, 4,5 billion Euros are EU’s contribution, and 1.2 billion will come from Romania’s budget.

The programme’s general goal is that of promoting a lasting transporting system that allows the quick, efficient and safe motion of human beings and goods at European standards, in and out the country.

Projects financed within SOP-T will aim four main objectives:

–  modernization of infrastructure on the important European axis;

–  modernization of infrastructure outside the important European axis;

–  a sustainable development of transportation;

–  technical assistance for investment projects.
