WAGE IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT MOTIVATION FOR DRIVERS

RBT editia nr. 23/Septembrie 2008 Articol adaugata la, 09 Septembrie 2008 ( RBT )

According to HR specialists, professional drivers are quite attracted by high salaries offered abroad, but money is not the main motivation that makes them choose for that option. Drivers are concerned over the safety of vehicles and the interest of the employer for the provision of decent working conditions. Even the much better infrastructure represents an important argument when deciding to get employed in other EU Member States.

In terms of salaries, there is a thorough advantage for the drivers from Bucharest, compared to those in the province. ”Drivers’ payment depends on the type of freight to be shipped, to the experience and certificates they hold. You can reach a 1.000-1.500 euro net salary“, says Steluta Burlacu, HR Consultant for Eurojobs.

According to Eurojobs’ consultant, employers can stimulate drivers primarily through provision of new vehicles with updated equipment, because traffic problems are the main issue taken into account by the drivers at the time of employment. Another motivating aspect is related to housing conditions for rest periods, which in most cases are still unsatisfactory.
